(Seguin) — The Seguin High School Class of 2025 will be celebrating the accomplishments of its 510 students. The students will be crossing the stage during Friday night’s graduation ceremony at Matador Stadium.
Emily Allen, Seguin ISD’s director of communications, says the district has nothing but excitement and pride for this year’s graduating class.
“It’s always a great day to be a Matador and we are excited to watch this newest group of soon to be Matador graduates go off into the world and take what they learned here in the Seguin ISD and make their mark elsewhere whether it’s college, trade school – if they are going into the workforce already, we are so excited for them. We can’t wait to see what they are going to do, and we are just very proud of them. We are really looking forward to celebrating with them during graduation on Friday,” said Allen.
Allen says this year’s ceremony marks a few notable changes, including a new 7 p.m. start time and the implementation of metal detector screenings at all stadium entrances.
“Our gates are going to open up at 5 o’clock. That’s a little earlier than people may be used to. We do have one major difference in our security measures this year with the addition of metal detectors at our main entrance points. We will have entrance points on both sides of the stadium, the home and the visitor’s side with those metal detectors at each one as well as wands as a secondary screening if needed and we are encouraging people to use both sides so that we can keep the line moving as quickly as possible,” said Allen.
Allen says the district is also making sure to highlight important safety and policy reminders for guests attending tonight’s ceremony.
“We are just trying to remind people – don’t bring prohibited items. Those are things like balloons, noise makers, glitter — any weapons. Please leave those at home. Let’s keep the line moving. Make things easy for everyone. We want it to be a celebration not frustration and keep everyone safe. You are allowed to bring in a clear water bottle — no metal cups. Please leave the Stanleys, the Yeti’s anything like that at home – even the Styrofoam – no outside cups. We are also going to have concessions and just a reminder, this year’s graduation starts at 7 o’clock. Please be in your seat,” said Allen.
Again, the gates at Matador Stadium will open at 5 p.m. with the ceremony to follow at 7 p.m. A map addressing parking is also being made available on the Seguin ISD Facebook page.
Today is also graduation night for Navarro ISD. Students in the Marion ISD graduated last week.
