Hays County Corrections Officer behind bars in Guadalupe County

(Guadalupe County) — An investigation led by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of a Hays County Corrections Officer. According to Guadalupe County Sheriff Joshua Ray, investigators arrested George Snell, 35, on two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and two counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact.

This arrest stemmed from an ongoing 2024 criminal investigation in which evidence was presented to a Guadalupe County Grand Jury and resulted in multiple indictments for the above stated offenses.

He says during the investigation, Snell was identified as a corrections officer at the Hays County Jail.

“Our Office coordinated and communicated with the Hays County Sheriff’s Office throughout the investigation. I applaud Sheriff (Anthony)  Hipolito for his quick and decisive decision to terminate Snell in concert with his arrest. We have made it clear that there will be no tolerance for child predators. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you work, or even if you wear a badge. We are entrusted by our communities with a degree of authority that demands we hold ourselves to a higher standard. Sheriff Hippolito and I are lock and step in this expectation. No one is above the law, and no one is entitled to hurt a child, “stated Ray.

Snell remains in the Guadalupe County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
