LULAC braves the storm for one successful Cinco De Mayo

(Seguin) — After staring at the aftermath of a strong storm that ripped through the area Friday afternoon, one might not have been able to imagine how the celebration of the city’s annual Cinco De Mayo Pachanga could have still continued in downtown Seguin.

But thanks to a team of volunteers and strong committee, the members of the Seguin LULAC Council #682 are dubbing the event an “Unforgettable” celebration.

Following the two-day event, the organization with the help of member Eric Norman posted on social media a heartfelt thank you to all those who were part of this year’s event.

“To all our incredible vendors—thank you for coming back out after the storm and helping us make this event truly memorable. Here’s to 16 years of Pachanga, and many more to come—gracias, comunidad!” states the post.

Also, despite the downed tree limbs and wet streets throughout the weekend, LULAC members thanked the community for taking the time to still come out and celebrate.

“What an incredible turnout and celebration—we couldn’t have asked for a better community to party with!

From the high-flying thrills of Lucha Libre, to the crumb-covered chaos of the Concha Eating Contest and flying chanclas galore—it was nonstop fun.”

LULAC officials say getting through the mess of the storm in the end was worth it. They say all proceeds from the event will go to help fund nearly $16,000 in scholarships to area high school graduating seniors.
