Cinco de Mayo Pachanga set for downtown Seguin

Selena tribute band, concha eating plus chancla throwing contest among the fun

(Seguin) — Get ready for a weekend bursting with vibrant culture, music, and community spirit as Seguin LULAC Council 682 proudly hosts the 16th Annual Cinco de Mayo Pachanga on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, 3, 2025, at Central Park in downtown Seguin.

This two-day celebration honors the rich cultural heritage of the Mexican American community and the historical significance of Cinco de Mayo, which commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

Though not Mexico’s Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo has become a festive and meaningful day in the United States to recognize and celebrate Mexican culture, resilience, and pride.

A beloved tradition in Seguin, the Pachanga brings people of all backgrounds together for an unforgettable weekend featuring live music, delicious food, artisan crafts, cultural performances, and family-friendly activities—all with that signature Seguin flair.

The festival will feature fun competitions as well, including a concha eating contest, a dog costume contest, Selena costume contest, and more. Sign-ups for costume contests can be done through flow.page/cincodemayo.

“We are looking forward to everyone joining us for the annual Pachanga – a free, family-friendly festival celebrating Hispanic heritage with live music, delicious food, fun contests, craft vendors, a community mural, and the thrilling excitement of lucha libre,” said Eligio Guerrero, Vice-President of Seguin LULAC Council 682, “More than just a celebration, this event gives back – proceeds help fund scholarships for Guadalupe County graduating seniors, with $16,000 awarded this year thanks to the support from last year’s Pachanga.”

Event Highlights Include:

  • Live Bands & DJ Entertainment
  • Local Food & Artisan Craft Booths
  • Lucha Libre Wrestling Showdowns
  • Kids’ Activities & Fun Contests

This year’s Pachanga also includes a special interactive art experience: local artist Jeremiah Camacho will lead a community paint-by-number mural, inviting attendees of all ages to help create a colorful work of art that reflects the spirit of the celebration.

Admission is free and all are welcome.
