Learn more about legendary figure Juan Seguin
(Seguin)– Seguin’s namesake Juan Seguin may be a mystery to some, but certainly not to his relatives and those who have studied his life. The public this weekend is invited to learn more about Juan Seguin and his contributions to history, his family and the community. A special “Evening with the Seguins” event is scheduled for Saturday night at The Palace Theatre.
Helping to host the event will be the Seguin Heritage Museum and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas Abishai Mercer Dickson Chapter.
Susie Sulaica, who represents the museum, says the community is invited to sit in on a discussion between a descendant and a historian who will both be exchanging “entertaining and informative stories” about the legendary figure.
“The idea behind it is to listen to a renowned historian Dr. Frank de la Teja. He’s like the ultimate historian for Seguin history. Also on stage will be Albert Seguin Gonzales who is Juan Seguin’s third great grandson and it’s more of a fireside chat — a casual chat between them and one of our employees here at the museum, Alex Thompson. She is the one who came up with the whole idea and they will be talking about the history of the Seguins as well and a very interesting fact will be brought out by the Seguin name while we are there,” said Sulaica.
The event will be held on Saturday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Palace Theatre located at 314 S. Austin St.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Parker’s City Pharmacy, Gift and Gourmet, Big Chief Cigar or at the Seguin Heritage Museum. The museum, however, will be the only location to purchase student tickets. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.seguinheritagemuseum.org.
