(Seguin) – This weekend is the public’s chance to safely clean out its medicine cabinet. The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office is once again participating in the DEA National Prescription Drug Takeback campaign.
DEA’s national prescription Drug Take Back Day encourages the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction. They say the drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present health, public safety, and national security threat.
The sheriff’s office says it is committed to making the community safer and healthier by collecting unused prescription drugs in an attempt to reduce overdoses and prevent overdose deaths. The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office will have a drop off box in the sheriff’s office lobby this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The public is encouraged to drop off unwanted prescription drugs for destruction. They say no questions will be asked.
The sheriff’s office is located at 2617 N. Guadalupe St.
