(Seguin) — Tickets are still on sale for Thursday night’s Spring Fling hosted by the Seguin Noon Lions Club. The event is said to be a community favorite. It includes a drive-thru pork steak dinner outside the Silver Center on East Court Street.
Lion Bill Klingemann says it’s great food for a great cause.
“Well, the best thing and the way that everybody always enjoys contributing to our club, is the wonderful pork steak dinner that we have. That’s a drive-thru, where you can buy your plate there. They’re known for their pork steak dinners. They put out the side dishes that go with it, and everybody who’s ever had that always says, ‘I’m going to come back,’” said Klingemann.
The dinner tickets are $15 in advance or $20 on the night of the event.
In addition to the delicious meal, Lion Steve Pate says they also have some great raffle items available on Thursday night.
“We’ve got some pretty good prizes. Starting out with a catered meal by Next Door Catering for 50 people, and that’s a great deal to get a chance to win that. We’ve got another $750 VISA card gift card,” said Pate.
Klingemann says raffle and dinner tickets will be available on-site on Thursday night, but he says they strongly encourage you to get your tickets early.
“We’ll have some (tickets) available that day, but certainly, it’s better to get them in advance. If you contact any Lions Club member they’d be happy to sell them to you. Additionally, we have tickets available for both the raffle and the food at the Silver Center, at Starcke Furniture at, Ascot’s Custom Travel over on Camp Street, and at Tri-County (AC & Heating) — Bubba Martin is helping us out over there with those,” said Klingemann.
The Lions Club uses the proceeds from this popular event to support other well-deserving groups in Seguin, as well as the many charities supported by Lions International.
“This is an extra special year because this is our 85th year that we’ve been in existence here in Seguin. So, we’re proud of that and we look forward to carrying forward with that. But the way we carry forward is by making charitable donations to the various organizations we support. One of the most important things that we do is the Lions camp, which provides services for diabetic and challenged children each summer. They can go up there to that camp for free, and that’s a wonderful thing. We (also) have Lions Eye Dogs. All of those things are the result of what we sell in terms of the raffle and the pork steak dinners,” said Klingemann.
Pate says that the drive-thru line will be easy to navigate, and they’ll be able to get you in and out quickly on Thursday night.
“It’s a great cause. It’s an excellent meal — an incredible meal. And the chances of winning, for the small monetary investment, are huge. So, there’s really no downside to supporting us and helping the community out,” said Pate.
Spring Fling will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday outside the Silver Center.
