(Seguin) — The Seguin Police Department is investigating a shooting incident near Max Starcke Park East, which led to Seguin Little League players and spectators fleeing that area on last night.
Police says the area was cleared after a loud round of gunfire was heard nearby. Actual video footage captured the loud rounds of gunfire during the juniors softball game. The video was captured by KWED News Director Cindy Aguirre Herrera, who just happened to be at the game and was recording at the time of the incident.
The audio from that video, best tells this story. One minute, it’s a great night at the ballpark, and then a number of shots ring out nearby.
Immediately after the shots were fired, an evacuation announcement was made for safety all teams and families at the complex.
Families throughout the complex were seen collecting their players and feverishly making their way to their vehicles.
According to reports, the shooting occurred at 9:15 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Pecan Street, located in an area just behind the Columbus Club Hall of Seguin, formerly known as the KC Hall.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found that at least one shotgun victim had already been transported by personal vehicle to the hospital. Detectives say the shooting remains an active investigation and all leads are being thoroughly investigated.
