(San Antonio) — Seguin’s Daisha Shular took the gold in the girls 100 and 200 meters at the Class 5A Region IV track meet at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio over the Easter weekend and will now compete in both events at the state meet.

Shular won silver in the 100 meter dash at the state meet in 2023. The senior, who will attend East Carolina on a full track scholarship, will look to finish her high school career by winning gold at state this year.

(Kingsville) — Navarro freshman Emerson Cochran will compete in the girls 400 meters in the state meet after earning silver at the Class 4A Region IV meet at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Cochran moved up on the medal stand after winning a bronze in the 400 at the area meet earlier this month.

(Seguin) — Marion track and field athletes Jaylen Reese, Tanner Otis, Aaron Salinas, Jack Wells, Brodie Fizer, Maggie Luna and Kaitlyn Rackley are all headed to the state meet. All seven student-athletes punched their tickets to state thanks to performances at the Class 3A Region IV meet at Matador Stadium in Seguin.

The team of Reese, Otis, Salinas and Wells won the silver in the boys 4X100 relays. Fizer took the silver in the boys pole vault. Luna won gold for the Lady Bulldogs in the girls 400 meters. And Rackley earned the silver in the girls pole vault.

The UIL State Track and Field Meet will be held Thursday, May 1st through Saturday, May 3rd at the Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium in Austin.
