(Seguin) — The Seguin Lady Matadors finish up their regular season tonight.
The Lady Mats will look to end the season on a winning note when they host San Antonio Highlands. Seguin dropped their first District 27-5A game last Friday in an 8-5 loss at home to San Antonio Burbank.
The Lady Matadors are 10-1 in district and Seguin head coach John Garcia says as his team prepares for the playoffs next week, they need to keep their focus with all of their opponents.
“The biggest thing is we can’t take anybody for granted. We’ve got to bring the energy we’ve had in the past,” Garcia said. “We have to make adjustments during the game, before the game, all of those things. Just our approach, everything has to be different.”
Tonight is Senior Night and “Blue Out” night for the late Chloe Belicek. A ceremony will take place before the game to honor Belicek, the Lady Matador all-district shortstop who lost her life in a car accident last summer prior to her senior year at Seguin High School.
The ceremony will be held on the field at Matador Legends Ballpark at 6:45 p.m. First pitch in tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
Our Lady Matador softball coverage starts at 7 O’clock tonight on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.
