High school baseball and softball: Marion and Seguin baseball teams walk off district foes on Friday

(Marion) — Kade Pape stole third and came home to score the game winning run when the throw down went into left field as the Marion Bulldogs walked off Great Hearts Northern Oaks 5-4 on Friday night at Marion High School.

Marion scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th. Pape tied the game with a double to center scoring Kyson McBride and Jack Wells before coming home with the winning run.

Caden Ramsey got the victory in relief for the Bulldogs. Ramsey pitched two scoreless innings, striking out four. He worked his way out of a bases loaded jam with one out in the top of the 7th by getting a fielder’s choice at the plate and a strikeout to end the threat.

Marion is 5-2 in District 27-3A. They are in second place in the district, two games behind Jourdanton with three games left in district play. Marion takes on Randolph today at Randolph High School.

(San Antonio) — The Marion Lady Bulldog softball team took out Cornerstone Christian 3-2 in nine innings on Friday in a non-district game in San Antonio.

Alyson Robles and Maggie Luna had back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the 9th to give the Lady Bulldogs the lead. Cornerstone would score a run in the bottom of the 9th, but Alizayah Bernal would get a groundout to shortstop Madison Peavler with the tying run at 3rd base to end the ball game.

Marion, 5-1 in District 27-3A, will get back to district play when they play at Randolph today.

(Bandera) — The Navarro Lady Panthers run-ruled Bandera 15-0 in Bandera on Friday.

Sarah Falor went 3-for-3 with two home runs and a double. She also earned the shutout in the circle allowing only two hits. Ally Antista also had a home run as she went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Navarro will host Wimberley on Tuesday.

(Bandera) — The Navarro Panther baseball team won their fifth straight District 26-4A game with a 9-4 win at Bandera on Friday.

Elijah Farley had two triples and drove in three runs for the Panthers. Noah Rosas doubled and tripled and had a pair of RBI. Colt Brown and Ryan Davidson combined on the hill to strike out a combined nine while allowing only three earned runs.

Navarro is 5-1 in district. The Panthers will take on 6-0 Wimberley this week. The teams will meet in Geronimo tomorrow and in Wimberley on Thursday.

(Seguin) — An Ocean Moreno base hit in the bottom of the 7th scored Griffin Welfel as the Seguin Matadors walked off San Antonio Burbank 2-1 on Friday at Matador Legends Ballpark.

Corey Dailey earned the win on the mound allowing just one hit and striking out four in three innings of relief. Seguin moved to 9-1 in District 27-5A. The Mats are a game ahead of San Antonio Edison with four games left in the district season.

Seguin fell 10-3 in a non-district game on Saturday afternoon to Buda Hays at Legends Ballpark. It was the Matadors third game in three days after district games on Thursday and Friday nights. Seguin will host San Antonio Highlands in district play on Tuesday afternoon at Legends Ballpark.

(Seguin) — And the Seguin Lady Matadors fell for the first time this season in District 27-5A on Friday night in an 8-5 setback to Burbank at Seguin High School.

Brylee Wieding hit two solo home runs in the defeat. Camryn Rios went 4-for-4 with a double and triple. And D’yanna Priestly blasted a 2-run home run. Seguin and Burbank split their two games this season.
