(San Antonio) — The Lifegate Christian girls basketball team earned a massive haul of accolades following a season that saw them win their four straight state title.
Sharla Maples, Anelyna Cavazos, Sophia Mendez, Kylie Maples, and Amariah Perez were named to the Class 2A All State teams on Friday at the Texas Christian Athletic League’s All-Star Weekend in San Antonio. Maples was named Girls Basketball Player of the Year and head coach Gabe Galvan was named Coach of the Year for the third time.
Lifegate took down Cornerstone Christian 37-29 in the Texas Christian Athletic League Class 2A State championship in February. Junior Sharla Maples was named the state tournament MVP. Junior Sophia Mendez and senior Anelyna Cavazos earned all-tournament team selections.
Also at the TCAL All-Star Weekend, Lifegate boys basketball player DaGionne Padelford earned a place on the 2A Boys Basketball All State 1st Team.
