(San Antonio) — The Seguin Matador boys golf team took home the District 27-5A Golf Tournament championship last week.
Seguin’s two teams took the top two spots at the district tourney held at the Mission Del Lago golf course in San Antonio. Jack La Pierre, Fabian Rosas, Chance Hollub, Lane Seidenberger and Chance Charanza led Seguin’s first team shooting a total score of 320. Seguin’s second team of Caleb Campos, August Panozzo, Benton Panozzo, Ian Montemayor and Cort Conway shot 356.
Seguin had the top eight individual scores in the tournament. La Pierre took first, shooting a 76. He was followed by Rosas who was just four shots behind La Pierre with an 80. August Panozzo was third with an 81. Hollub was fourth at 82. Seidenberger also shot an 82. Charanza shot an 85 for sixth place. Benton Panozzo was seventh with an 89. And Campos finished eight with a score of 90.
Both Matador boys teams now move on to the regional tournament April 15th through the 17th at the Champions Lake Golf Course in McAllen. The Class 5A state golf tournament will be held at the Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown in May.
The Lady Matador golf team finished 3rd at the district tournament. Layla Moreno and Rylie Wilke finished 6th and 7th, respectively individually for the Seguin girls.
