Area high school softball and baseball roundup

The Navarro softball team gathers in left field following their game against Canyon Lake at Navarro High School on March 8, 2025.

(Geronimo) — Navarro junior Shelbi Stevens blasted two home runs, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Panthers fell 10-5 to Canyon Lake in Geronimo on Tuesday.

Stevens hit a solo shot in the first and a three-run bomb in the sixth, both to center field giving her 10 on the season and matching her very own season school record she set last year. Kennedy Seek had the other RBI for Navarro when she drove in Caylee Schronk with a base hit in the fifth after Schronk led off the inning with a double. Sarah Falor went the distance in the circle for the Lady Panthers striking out nine.

Navarro continues District 26-4A play on Friday when they travel to Bandera to take on the Lady Bulldogs.

(Geronimo) — The Navarro Panther baseball team won their fourth straight district game with a 6-1 victory over Bandera at Navarro High School on Tuesday night.

Colt Brown had three hits for the Panthers. Matthew Villanueva threw six shutout innings to pick up the win. Navarro is 4-1 in District 26-4A. The Bulldogs and Panthers will rematch on Friday night in Bandera.

(Jourdanton) — The Marion Bulldogs fell for the second time in District 27-3A as Jourdanton rallied past Marion 9-5 in Jourdanton on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs scored the first five runs of the ball game in the first two innings, but Jourdanton responded with six runs in the bottom of the second and held off Marion for the victory. The Bulldogs fell to 4-2 in district while the Indians improved to 6-0. Marion will host Great Hearts Northern Oaks on Friday. You’ll be able to hear that game on KWED.

(Jourdanton) — The Marion Lady Bulldogs also fell in Jourdanton on Tuesday night, dropping their first district game as the Squaws came away with an 11-1 victory.

Lailah Hernandez drove in Marion’s lone run in the ball game with an RBI triple in the fifth inning. Both Marion and Jourdanton are tied at 5-1 atop District 27-3A. The Lady Bulldogs will play at Cornerstone Christian in a non-district game on Friday.

(San Antonio) — And the Seguin Lady Matadors blasted San Antonio Brackenridge 19-0 on the road in District 27-5A play on Tuesday night.

Camryn Rios had three hits and drove in five for the Lady Mats. Kaelynn Ramirez got the shutout in the circle, striking out six and only allowing four hits.

The Lady Matadors are now 10-0 in district. Seguin will be back at Matador Legends Field on Friday to host San Antonio Burbank.

(Seguin) — The Seguin Matador baseball team had the night off yesterday.
