(Seguin) — Today is the deadline for Texans to register to vote in next month’s local elections.

The Texas Secretary of State Office says in order to register to vote, a resident must be a US citizen, be at least 18 years old, and they must live in the county where the application is submitted. Convicted felons and people declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law are not eligible. Texas doesn’t offer online voter registration. Election day is Saturday, May 3.

The Guadalupe County Elections Office will be hosting a number of local elections on May 3, including races in the cities of Santa Clara, New Braunfels, Universal City and Selma. There will also be school related elections in the Marion, Comal and Prairie Lea school districts.

The city of Marion was scheduled host an election on May 3, but that election was canceled after all of the races were determined to be unopposed. Marion Mayor Daniel Loyola will be re-elected at that time, along with Karen Mills and Phil Karrer, who were running unopposed for two seats on the Marion City Council.

You can find more details about the local elections by visiting the Guadalupe County Elections Office website.
