(Seguin) — The search will soon begin for a new superintendent in the Seguin ISD. Superintendent Veronica Vijil announced tonight her plans to retire after 32-years in public education.
The announcement was made after the school board met in closed session for about an hour to discuss the superintendent’s retirement agreement and to discuss hiring a firm to conduct the search for the next superintendent.
Dr. Vijil will remain in her current position through June 30, 2025 and then be reassigned to the position of superintendent emeritus. She will hold that position until her official retirement date of December 31, 2025. She will be paid her regular salary during that time. She’s also slated to receive a $95,000 severance payment prior to her retirement date.
