Matadors and Lady Matadors keep unbeaten district records intact with run-rule victories

(San Antonio) — Both the Seguin Matadors and Lady Matadors stayed perfect in District 27-5A with run-rule victories on the road over San Antonio Highlands on Friday.

The Lady Mats ran away from the Lady Owls 16-4. Erin Johnston had four RBI on the night including a solo home run. Camryn Rios went 4-for-5 and drove in three runs. Seguin is 6-0 in district, they’ll next play at San Antonio Lanier on Friday.

The Seguin Matadors shutout Highlands 14-0. Will Gray Mahaffey, Samuel Edwards and Griffin Welfel each had three hits. Welfel struck out three in two innings pitched on the mound. The Matadors are 4-0 in district, they will host Sam Houston tomorrow afternoon in a game we’ll have on KWED.

The Matadors and Hurricanes will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Matador Legends Ballpark. We’ll have all the play-by-play action with our Matador baseball coverage starting at around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon an AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.

(Fischer) — And the Navarro Lady Panther softball team fell 10-3 on the road at Canyon Lake in District 26-4A action on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Panthers will host Bandera tomorrow night at Navarro High School. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
