Navarro and Seguin powerlifters to compete at state championships

(Abilene) — The Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Championships start tomorrow in Abilene and Navarro and Seguin student-athletes will be there.

The Navarro Panther powerlifting team will compete tomorrow morning in the Division 2 championship. The team is comprised of Ashton Evans, Korbin Benes, Dylan Trotti, Trinidad Aguirre, Caleb Shiroky and Evan Rodriguez.

On Saturday morning, members of the Seguin Matador powerlifting team will hit the gym floor for the Division 1 championship. Seguin is sending five lifters to the state meet. Those competing will be James Medrano, Gabe Soliz, Jasiah Herrera, Julius Rivera and Hunter Mica.

The powerlifting state championships take place at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene. The Division 1 championship starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the Matadors. The Division 2 championship takes place Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. for the Panthers.
