(Geronimo) — First year Navarro boys basketball coach Jarrett Tyler was named the District 26-4A Coach of the Year while senior Patrick Monge was named to the district’s first team for the 2024-25 season.
Joining Monge on the all-district team were senior Elijah Farley and freshman Weston Shields, who were named to the second team. Junior Kohen Blount earned a spot on the honorable mention all-district list. Navarro Academic All District selections included Monge, Shields, Bayley Burgess, Deegan Bush, Hudson Jenner, Colorado Kenway and Eli Melton.
The Panthers narrowly missed the playoffs this season after going winless in district last season. Navarro and Fredericksburg finished tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in the district. The Billies slipped past the Panthers 38-37 in a play-in game on February 14th.
Tyler earned the coach of the year award in his first season at Navarro High School after spending nine years as an assistant at Klein High School, just northwest of Houston.
