Tickets now on sale for Golden Ticket trip raffle
(Seguin) – Laissez les bons temps rouler.
You’re invited to let the good times roll at this year’s Mardi Gras fundraiser. The annual event hosted by the Seguin Education Foundation is set for Thursday from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Seguin Coliseum.
SEF Executive Director Jill Nash says every ticket to the New Orleans-style fundraiser helps to fund innovative education grants that go directly to teachers on local campuses.
“That event raises the most funds that we have to give back to our grant program. It’s part of our initiatives, mission and goals to give back to Seguin ISD and the way to do that is through our grant program. So, by raising funds through our Mardi Gras event, that helps us to be very successful,” said Nash.
Bryan Spahn, one of the event co-chairs, says one of the highlights of the fundraiser is the Golden Ticket trip raffle. He says one lucky person this year will again get to choose from four incredible destinations.
“For our Golden Ticket this year, we’ve got a trip to Cabo, Tuscany, Sedona and then a Kentucky Bourbon trip which that one is a pretty amazing trip. I think these trips are probably going to do phenomenal so we are excited for everyone to be able to buy this ticket. You can go online. You can buy a ticket ahead of time. You don’t have to be there to win. So, you can buy as many tickets as you want,” said Spahn.
Sharing the rest of the festivities for the annual fundraiser is Steve Parker. Parker like Spahn has chaired the event for the past several years. He says this year, the group decided to change things up a bit. And although they won’t have that Cajun-style menu, he says he believes they have added something better.
“Well, this year, I think we want to tell everybody it is a great value too because for $50, it’s actually a meal (from our caterer) Burnt Bean – James Beard nominee restaurant right here in Seguin – Michelin award winning restaurant and so if you have never had a chance, it’s a great opportunity to come out and try Burnt Bean on us and be a part of the event. We will have some music there as well so it will be a great time and then the games are always fun because people have the chance to win these things. I mean this trip, the Golden Ticket, — there’s only 100 chances. We sell 100 tickets for a $100 (each) and so there’s a great chance to win but we will also have other raffle prizes as well. We are going to auction off a purse as part of one of our games as well as a $700 gift card to Academy. So, lots of opportunities to win. We will have a booze wagon that will be up for a game as well. Everybody enjoys those and so, it will be a lot of fun,” said Parker.
In addition to food, live music and a chance to win a trip, Spahn says this year’s fundraiser provides folks with all sorts of ways to take home a top prize.
“We’ve got some great games this year as well as live and silent auction items. In addition to that, we will also have an added baking table that is going to have baked goods to be auctioned off by some of our local people who have made those and so, we are really hoping to break some records this year and really see more than we’ve done in the year’s past and I think we’ve had a really great start to that too,” said Spahn.
Those unable to make it this Thursday but who would still like to support the Seguin Education Foundation are encouraged to log online and bid on the many silent auction items up for grabs.
The link to the Mardi Gras 25 Silent Auction is now live and can be accessed via the SEF Facebook page. Items include a signed Taylor Swift guitar, Consuela bags, plus other premium items.
Folks also have the chance to be the winner of a Louis Vuitton giveaway valued at $1,500. Tickets are $75 for one in 50 chances to win the Felicie Pochette. A link for tickets can also be found on the SEF social media pages.
Thursday night fundraiser tickets are $50 each or $40 for Seguin ISD employees. Those wishing to sponsor the event or donate an auction item are encouraged to call the SEF office at 830-379-0325.
Tickets can be purchased on SEF social media pages or by visiting the group’s website at seguineducationfoundation.org.
