Lady Matadors earn spots on 27-5A all-district basketball teams


(Seguin) – The Seguin girls basketball team had four student-athletes recognized on the 27-5A All-District team for their accomplishments on the court during the 2024-25 season, and 12 students were honored for their academic achievements.

A pair of Lady Matador freshmen were recognized on the all-district first team. Guards Faith Franklin and Jaz Gill earned first team honors in their first season of varsity basketball.

Franklin led the Lady Mats in scoring dropping in 9.2 points per game. She also led Seguin with 2.9 steals per contest. Gill averaged 5.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Sophomore Rebeka Wilke made the all-district second team. Wilke led Seguin with eight rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game.

Sophomore Britlyn Walls made the all-district honorable mention list. Walls topped the Lady Mats with 55 three-pointers made on the season.

Franklin, Wilke and Walls along with Bryana Arce, Genavie Deleon, Aubrey Glenewinkel, Kumba Kassoh, Esme Arroyo and team managers Khloe McKnight, Zariah Wilson, Kemiaya Davis and Alyssa Zamzow earned academic all-district recognition as well.

The Lady Matadors won 15 games in Veronda Kendall’s third season as the program’s head coach. Seguin finished just out of the playoffs in 5th place in District 27-5A.
