(Seguin) – The investigation of several drive-by shootings in the Seguin area this past January has resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old man.
After finishing up a month-long investigation, the Seguin Police Department CASE Unit arrested Christopher Montealvo, of Seguin. The arrest also involved the recovery of an altered Glock 27, 40 caliber handgun. Officials say the alteration to this handgun, also known as a switch, made it a fully automatic handgun, a prohibited weapon without special permits and/or licenses in the State of Texas.
At 3:30 p.m. Feb. 19, Seguin Police Department CASE Unit officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 5000 block of IH 10 W access road where Montealvo was a passenger.
Montealvo was found in possession of a prohibited weapon (machine gun) and a THC vape cartridge.
Montealvo was subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, felony of the 3rd degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2 State Jail Felony. The Seguin Police Department CASE Unit will be referring the investigation to the proper Federal Agency for possible federal charges.
Seguin Police Department officials say they are committed to proactively investigating and arresting those individuals who commit violent crimes in Seguin and providing a better quality of life for its residents.
