(San Antonio) — Seguin High School senior Eduardo “Eddie” Barrera Jr. showed off some impressive shooting skills at the San Antonio Junior Rodeo Shootout competition this past weekend.
Barrera, representing Guadalupe County 4H Shotgun Sports, competed over 4 days and earned his second $10,000 scholarship for Highest Over All 4H Male and Top Gun score. Barrera earned the top mark in the competition of over 1200 participants. Barrera also earned runner-up in trap, runner-up in sporting clays, runner-up in trap doubles and champion in super sporting. Overall, he earned almost $20,000 in scholarship money and prizes.
Barrera will be going off to college this Fall and hopes to continue with this sport in college and major in Engineering. Barrera became the 4H National Sporting Clays Champion at the 4H’s National Shooting Sports competition in Nebraska last June.
