Flower shops among those in action
(Seguin) – Have you secured those flowers yet? Today is Valentine’s Day for those who might need the reminder. Florists all over town are putting in that extra work so that no one goes unloved this holiday.
Jamie Lum, of Dietz Flower Shop, says customers will be taken care of whether they are looking for red roses for romance or lilies for mom.
“We do have plenty of selections available to still be chosen from. I would suggest that they come in as soon as possible or give us a call or to any of the local florists to get their order in so that they can be ccommodated and so that they can make sure their delivery gets there on time,” said Lum.
Lum says flower shops, however, are no longer just about flowers. She says folks are always surprised by the other gift ideas that are available.
“We have cute stuffies. There are plenty of selections to choose from. We had some chickens and roosters that were really hot this year, chocolates, ornaments – tons of gift items. You just really have to come in and look at the selection and choose from there but there is something for everyone,” said Lum.
Once upon a time, Valentine’s Day ran on the heels of Mother’s Day as the busiest holiday for florists. Today, Lum says success does not come without at least a year’s worth of planning.
“We start preparations in July the year before to get counts, flower needs, pictures – all of those things to make sure that the supplies that we need for this holiday are available and to ensure that we can get it in in a timely fashion and then just to ensure that everything is met and everyone’s deliveries are made, we do bring in extra seasonal help to accommodate those needs. So, we go from being a 10-person crew to almost a 30-person crew when it is all said and done,” said Lum.
Despite the craze of the day, folks don’t have to worry about going home empty-handed here in Seguin. If it’s not a dozen roses your cupid is looking for, then customers can always find some other great gift ideas throughout Seguin.
