HOUSTON, Texas — The Texas Lutheran women’s track and field team returned to Houston to compete in the FasTrak Athletix Indoor Collegiate Last Chance Invitational Saturday at Yeoman Fieldhouse at the University of Houston in a field primarily filled by Division-I competition.
It was a record setting day for the Texas Lutheran distance team as the 4000m distance medley relay team comprised of Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon), Katie Kostelnik (Hallettsville/Sacred Heart Catholic), Audrey Malbrough (Selma/Veterans Memorial), and Aliyah Fonseca (Harlingen/Harlingen) broke the Texas Lutheran distance medley that has stood for 22 years (13:56.22) with a time of 13:49.04 to finish fifth overall and first amongst Division-III trams.
Taylor Norrell (Lake Jackson/Brazosport) ran a 9.33 in the 60m hurdles to finish sixth overall and second amongst Division-III athletes.
Ciarah Garcia (Pleasanton/Pleasanton) finished 13th overall and third amongst Division-III jumpers in the long jump with a mark of 10.36m (33-11.75).
In throws, Julissa Rodriguez (Deer Park/Deer Park) finished first amongst Division-III throwers in the weight throw with a mark of 13.08m (42-11.00).
The 4x400m relay team comprised of Sage Bartlett (Buda/Johnson), Hazel Bowman, Kamilah Tanner (Killeen/Robert M. Shoemaker), and Natalie Garcia (McAllen/McAllen) finished 11th overall and first amongst Division-III relay teams with a time of 4:19.1.
