(Marion) — The Marion Bulldogs inched closer to the playoffs with a 73-48 win over Young Men’s Leadership Academy in their regular season finale on Friday at Marion High School.
Up seven at half, the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half outscoring the Lions 35-17 over the game’s final 16 minutes. Jaiden Riley led Marion with 24 points. Travis Randle dropped in 20.
Marion finished the regular season 21-10 overall and 3-5 in District 27-3A. Marion can clinch a playoff spot if the district’s first place team, San Antonio Cole, defeats YMLA on Monday night. The Cougars have not lost a district game this season. The boys bi-district playoffs start next week.
(San Antonio) — The Seguin Matadors, who are already in the Class 5A playoffs, won at San Antonio Burbank 71-61 on Friday night.
Corey Dailey led Seguin with 31 points. Colton Saengerhausen poured in 16 for the Mats.
Seguin is 11-4 in District 27-5A. They will finish their regular season Tuesday at home against San Antonio Brackenridge. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Goldie Harris Gym.
(Wimberley) — The Navarro Panthers fell Friday in Wimberley to the Texans, 60-38.
The Panthers will close their season at Fredericksburg on Tuesday. Navarro will clinch a playoff spot with a win. The Panthers and Billies will tip off at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Fredericksburg High School.
(Spring Branch) — The Navarro Runnin’ Lady Panthers will play in the Class 4A girls bi-district round on Tuesday at Smithson Valley High School.
The Lady Panthers, who finished fourth in District 26-4A, will face District 25-4A champion Lago Vista. We will have the game on KWED. (San Antonio) — The Marion Lady Bulldogs, who finished third in District 27-3A, will play Hondo in the bi-district round on Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Owls will meet at San Antonio Southwest High School. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
