Linda Rae (Lindsey) Morrison, age 82, went home to be with her Lord on February 3, after a wonderful weekend visit with family that was filled with laughter and love. She was born in Sherman, Texas on January 30, 1943 to Mildred Gabbert and Hugh Lindsey. She spent some of her childhood in Japan as the daughter of a Marine, and attended college at Texas Women’s University, before settling in Seguin in 1964. She met the love of her life, Ray, one weekend home from college, while visiting her parents at the Seguin Motel which they owned. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray (married 48 years) and her brother, Jerry Lindsey.
She is survived by daughters Jera Morrison, Juli Morrison both of Seguin, and Jana (Steve) Lamphear of Floresville, and her niece (whom she jokingly called her favorite daughter) Laurie Lindsey (Danny) Chittom of Booneville, MS; 6 grandchildren: Jordan (Carrie) Chittom, Hannah Chittom, Julia (Brandon) Schrichten, Sydney (Cody) DeWit, Andrew Morrison, and Ravin Chittom; one great-grandchild John Oliver Chittom; sisters-in-law Jan Hudgens Lindsey of Seguin, and Frances Morrison of Shreveport, LA; cousins Phillip (Diane) Cassell and Donna Broughton of Sherman. She also leaves behind her church family and her beloved “Twisted Sisters” bible study group who always made sure she knew she was loved, by visiting when she could no longer attend church in person.
Linda was involved in leadership positions of many organizations through the years including Girl Scouts, Extension Homemakers, 4-H Club, Elks Lodge, Gideons, Red Hat Society, Trinity Baptist and the Country Church. She helped Ray with his business, Morrison Tree Service, for 48 years. After his death in 2013, she continued to own and operate it until 2021. She loved attending local events such as Yule Fest, Trade Days, and Pecan Fest. She enjoyed her work as a substitute teacher at Seguin High School for many years. She and Ray, along with 3 other couples (The Cockrells, The Bundicks, and The Muellers), were members of The Supper Club, meeting weekly for decades.
A celebration of life will be held at the Country Church in Marion, on February 15th at 11:00 a.m., with reception to follow. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip “Flip” Cassell, Steve Lamphear, Danny Chittom, Brandon Schrichten, Cody DeWit, and Andrew Morrison. For anyone wishing to honor Linda’s life through a donation, please donate to the charity of your choice.
