SEGUIN, Texas — The ten-time defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) champion Texas Lutheran University softball team has been voted by the league’s head coaches as the preseason favorite in the 2025 SCAC Preseason Poll Wednesday.
The Bulldogs finished with 119 points and received nine of a possible 11 first-place votes in a vote of the league’s head coaches. Trinity followed in second place with 107 points and one first-place vote, while McMurry, St. Thomas, and Concordia (TX) rounded out the top five with McMurry receiving the final first place vote.
Texas Lutheran won both the regular season and conference tournament championships for the ninth time in ten full seasons in the conference (2020 season not played until completion), going 19-2 in SCAC play. Texas Lutheran has not lost a conference series since joining the league in 2014 and is 211-7 (.968) in league play.
The program has won 19 SCAC titles (10 regular season and nine SCAC Tournament championships), all under head coach Wade Wilson.
Texas Lutheran returns four All-SCAC First Team selections from last season, including reigning back-to-back SCAC Player of the Year and two-time All-American Caelee Clark (Montgomery/Lake Creek), Rawlings Gold Glove winners Linzee Leal (Corpus Christi/Mary Carroll) and Annie Kay (Sinton/Sinton, and NFCA All-Region honoree Kylee Jack (Richwood/Brazoswood).
