Youth Show to wrap up with auction, live dance

(Seguin) – Organizers of this year’s Guadalupe County Youth Livestock and Homemakers Show are calling on all supporters to come out and help wrap up another great show.

That’s according to Megan Reiley, the co-secretary for the show’s board of directors. Reiley says despite a very cold and snowy start, this week has been fabulous. She says the final part, of course, happens this weekend with the Saturday noon auction.

“For our buyers as we are preparing for our auction tomorrow, the biggest thing we want to re-stress is just registering as a buyer. That’s going to give us their contact information. It’s going to have them plugged in so when they get onto the auction floor to purchase things, they are registered and ready to go. If anybody wants to put any amount of money on an exhibitor whether it’s $10- $100—anything like that – they do have to register as a buyer even if they have been a buyer before in previous years. Everyone has to reregister every year,” said Reiley.

The show, which began Monday, features 1,603 entries from approximately 600 exhibitors. The students each represent the various FFA and 4H groups throughout Guadalupe County and surrounding areas. Reiley says this year’s show includes baked foods, photography, handicrafts, needlework, agricultural mechanics, plus live animals.

In addition to showing their support, folks are also encouraged to help celebrate with a live dance this Saturday featuring music by Clint Taft and the Buck Wild Band. Reiley says although the location has changed this year, organizers plan for another fun time.

“Typically, the Saturday night after the auction, the K.C. Hall has the big kind of after-auction dance. Well, this year, the dance is going to be held on the dance slab pavilion here on the grounds. The K.C. Hall is still putting that on. They are selling tickets. You can buy them here at the concession stands if you are on the grounds or you can buy them at the door Saturday night after the auction. Definitely bring the kids, bring your family, come and enjoy some music, dancing and just kind of celebrate a really fantastic week and a fabulous auction,” said Reiley.

The youth show dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight. Saturday.  Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door.
