(Seguin) – A traffic stop on IH-10 has landed a McAllen man behind bars. Guadalupe County Sheriff’s officials report that on Wednesday, Jan 15, K9 Sergeant Dustin Crawford initiated a traffic stop on a Ford F-350 pickup truck following a traffic violation on IH-10 West.
During the traffic stop, officials say Sgt. Crawford identified the driver and sole occupant as Roberto Cardenas, 27, out of McAllen.
After receiving consent to search the vehicle, K-9 Zeus reportedly alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, an aftermarket compartment was discovered. The compartment contained 5 bundles (6 kilograms) of suspected cocaine. Cardenas was booked into the Guadalupe County Jail for the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.
Agencies involved in the arrest included the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit; Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau and the Seguin Police Department Case Unit.
