Woman in hospital after being stabbed by daughter in local neighborhood

Alyssa Camarena

(Seguin) — A woman remains in a San Antonio hospital after allegedly being stabbed multiple times by her daughter. Seguin Police say the incident began just before 3 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Tony Lee Street.

Officials say upon arrival, officers discovered a 55-year-old Hispanic female suffering from multiple stab wounds to her face, arms, and back. The victim was identified as the mother of the alleged suspect, Alyssa Camarena, 35.

The investigation revealed that the victim had arrived at the residence when Camarena suddenly attacked her mother, stabbing her multiple times with a large pocket knife. Witnesses not only reported hearing yelling and screaming but also observed the assault. After one concerned resident attempted to intervene, Camarena reportedly fled the scene on foot.

Responding officers quickly located the woman nearby and placed her into custody without incident. Camarena was transported to the Guadalupe County Jail and booked on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. She remains behind bars on a $500,000 bond.

The victim was transported to a hospital in San Antonio for treatment of her injuries. Officials say while she is expected to survive, the woman faces a long road to recovery.
