(Seguin) — The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office made a major human smuggling discovery this week.
The sheriff’s office conducted a traffic stop at 1:49 p.m. Wednesday along I-10 East near the FM 725 exit.
During the stop, the deputy discovered that there were 18 undocumented immigrants inside the tank of the trailer being hauled by the 18-wheeler.
All of the individuals inside were removed, and it was determined that they were not injured. They were all provided food and water, and then released to authorities from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The criminal case has no been turned over to federal immigration officials.
