GHN expanding healthcare access for military families

(Seguin) — Guadalupe Healthcare Network (GHN) has announced the completion of a new contract amendment with TriWest Healthcare Alliance (TriWest), that will allow TRICARE beneficiaries to access its payer agreement, effective January 1, 2025.

GHN previously entered an agreement with TriWest to serve and participate in the Veteran’s CCN network in 2021, but will now include the TRICARE Program. TRICARE beneficiaries include: Active duty, National Guard and Reserve, Retired and Retired Reserve service members, eligible family members, survivors, children and former spouses.

GHN CEO, Deana Henk says this is good news for military families in the region.

“We are pleased to expand access to our military families in 2025. We have been working for many years to complete a TRICARE agreement, but have now found great partners in TriWest and CHRISTUS Health Plan in order to serve these brave men and women and their families,” said Henk.

TriWest will become the TRICARE West Region contractor on January 1, 2025 and will replace Health Net Federal Services, LLC as the administrator. The TRICARE West Region includes 26 states, including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

While many of the contracted providers with TRICARE will automatically be assigned to the TriWest networks, GHN’s new contract will create additional access to its hospital and physician members for TRICARE beneficiaries. GHN is a physician hospital organization that facilitates managed care contracts on behalf of its members. GHN’s hospitals include Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, Connally Memorial Medical Center, Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital and over 340 Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers in Guadalupe, Comal, Hays, Wilson, and Karnes counties.

All three GHN hospitals will be included in the new TRICARE provider network and many of GHN’s physician practices have agreed to participate. TriWest is currently adding GHN providers to its directories and claims systems, and additional GHN practices may also be added over time. GHN also holds a contract with CHRISTUS Health Plan for TRICARE coverage under the US Family Health Plan, which is managed separately from TriWest.
