Vandals damage "Wendy the Squirrel" at Seguin City Hall

(Seguin) — The city’s Squirrel Trail public art display has suffered its first major blow.

The Seguin Police Department is investigating a criminal mischief case in which vandals damaged the Wendy the Squirrel statue on Thursday, January 2. The statue is located outside of Seguin City Hall in the 200 block of North River Street.

The statue isn’t just one of many pieces of art that make up the Squirrel Trail, but it’s also a symbol of community and it was commissioned in remembrance of Wendy Parker, the late wife of Seguin City Manager Steve Parker. Wendy died in November 2023, and the statue which carried her name was unveiled almost two months ago.

Wendy the Squirrel was damaged by vandals on Thursday, January 2.

The police department has released photos from a surveillance camera in the area.
