(Seguin) — The Seguin City Council is recognizing the recent achievements of a local eatery. The council recently approved a resolution honoring Burnt Bean Co. for its latest award. The barbecue restaurant in downtown Seguin was honored with a prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand Award.
Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen shared the resolution during the council’s last meeting.
“Whereas, the city of Seguin takes great pride in the achievement and contributions of its local businesses, that not only support our economy, but also elevate the culinary scene. And whereas Burnt, Bean Co. , a beloved barbecue destination in Seguin, has earned a prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand Award and inclusion in the highly anticipated Michelin Guide Texas, the first edition ever for the Lone Start State. And whereas this recognition from the Michelin Guide highlights Burnt Bean Company’s dedication to culinary excellence, its ability to provide exceptional food at a great value and its warm, welcoming atmosphere that draws from people from all over who wait in line for a taste of the legendary barbecue. And whereas Burnt Bean Co. was invited to the Michelin Guide ceremony in Houston on November 11, 2024, where it was among 45 restaurants from across that were Texas recognized with the Bib Gourmand Award, an honor given to establishments that exemplify the best value for money and that offer exceptional food in a relaxed in a relaxed setting,” said Dodgen.
Dodgen says that Burnt Bean Co. continues to make Seguin a destination spot for visitors looking to try their delicious meats, sides and other creations. She says the city is proud of its accomplishments.

And whereas Burnt Bean’s inclusion in the Michelin Guide Texas underscores the strength of our community and the importance of supporting local businesses that contribute to Seguin’s continued growth and prosperity. Burnt Bean Co. owners Ernest Servantes and David Kirkland were both on hand for the recognition last month from the Seguin City Council.
