Special by Myra Salinas, Main Street/CVB tourism coordinator

(Seguin) — Every year, Seguin, Texas, transforms into a winter wonderland as the community gathers to celebrate the holiday season with the much-anticipated Holiday Lighted Parade. A beloved tradition of the holiday season in Seguin officially begins with the Holiday Stroll Parade on Thursday, December 5th at 6:30 p.m.

Whether you’re a first-time attendee or a longtime parade-goer, Seguin’s Holiday Lighted Parade promises a memorable experience for all ages.

Local businesses, schools, community groups, and individuals participate by decorating floats, vehicles, and even marching units with vibrant lights, creating a visual spectacle that delights attendees. These creative displays range from traditional Christmas themes to whimsical, unique interpretations of the holiday spirit. It’s an opportunity for Seguin’s residents to showcase their festive spirit and come together to share the joy of the season.

“As the first night of the Holiday Stroll festivities, the parade is a great introduction to the holiday season in Seguin,” said Lindsay Hajek Recreation Superintendent for the City of Seguin. “The Holiday Stroll Parade gets bigger and better each year and brings friends and family together for a night of twinkling lights, creativity, and holiday spirit. We want everyone to spend the holidays in Seguin!”

The floats will start at the intersection of Austin and College streets and head south towards Central Park. Once the parade ends, the Mayor will announce the winners of the parade and the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest. Immediately following, the community is invited to stick around for the countdown to the holiday lighting of Central Park. The evening event will also include photos with Santa, musical entertainment, local non-profit vendors and more.

The parade is just the start of the three-day Holiday Stroll festivities downtown. On Friday, December 6th Sip ‘N Stroll with participating downtown merchants sampling hot cocoas. Then Saturday, December 7th bring the family to Central Park for the North Pole Stroll.
