(Seguin) — We’ll have Marion Bulldog playoff football for you tonight on KWED.

Marion is in the Area round of the Class 3A Division I playoffs. The Bulldogs take on the Goliad Tigers tonight at Matador Stadium in Seguin.

Both teams had blowout victories in the Bi-District round last week. Goliad blasted Bishop, 63-16. Marion ran past Jourdanton, 46-14.

The Bulldogs victory last week was their first in the postseason in five years. Marion head coach Ryne Miller says his team proved they belong to be mentioned among the top playoff teams after their decisive win over Jourdanton.

“The further you get in the playoffs, the tougher the teams get and the better the teams you play,” Miller said. “But I feel we’re one of those better teams that people talk about now. Anytime you can point up 46 points and hold Jourdanton to 14, we’re right where we want to be.

“For us to be able to play in Seguin, it’s almost like a home game for us. It worked out real well. I know our kids are excited. They really want the opportunity to play over Thanksgiving. We just gotta show up on Friday and execute the game plan and do what we’ve been doing the last couple weeks.”

The Bulldogs forced four turnovers by the Indians in their Bi-District victory. On offense, quarterback Kade Pape accounted for four touchdowns and running back Christian Sanchez ran for 250 yards. Marion will lean on those playmakers in tonight’s Area game.

The Marion Bulldogs and Goliad Tigers kick off tonight at 7 O’clock. We’ll have all the play by play action from Matador Stadium on KWED.

(Floresville) — In the Class 4A Area playoffs, the Navarro Panthers and Cuero Gobblers continue a fierce rivalry tonight in Floresville.

Navarro and Cuero will meet for the 10th time in the last seven years. The teams last met in the playoffs in 2021. The Gobblers won that game, 35-28 with a touchdown in the last minute.

Tonight’s playoff between Navarro and Cuero will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Floresville High School.

We’ll have coverage of both the Panthers and Bulldogs tonight on KWED. We’ll visit with Navarro head coach Rod Blount on the Panther report at 6:20 p.m.

And then we’ll have the Bulldog report where we’ll talk more with Marion head coach Ryne Miller. It all leads up to Marion Bulldog playoff football on KWED with the Bulldogs and Goliad Tigers kicking off at 7 p.m. from Matador Stadium on AM 1580 and streaming online at SeguinToday.com.
