TODAY'S TOP STORY: Child brings narcotics to local elementary school
A local elementary school student was transported to the Guadalupe County Juvenile Probation Department after allegedly bringing a bag of cocaine to her classroom.
Seguin Police Detectives say at 9:43 a.m. Wednesday, a Seguin Police Department officer assigned as a School Resource Officer (SRO) at Jefferson Elementary School was notified by school administrators regarding the possible presence of narcotics on campus.
Upon arriving at the school, the officer was presented with a small, clear bag containing a white substance that was discovered in a classroom. A field test of the substance was conducted, which confirmed it to be cocaine hydrochloride. The bag was reportedly discovered and turned in by another student who found the drugs inside a desk.
After conducting a thorough investigation with the assistance of school administrators, the officer identified a female juvenile as the individual who brought the substance to campus.
Following standard procedures, the girl was released to the county juvenile probation department's custody and formally charged with possession of a substance in penalty group 1 in a Drug-Free Zone.
No official response from the district was provided. However, Jefferson Principal Maria Guerra notified the school's parents of the incident.
Students and families on the county's west end remain vigilant as Cibolo Police Investigators continue to look into a recent incident in which an 11-year-old female student says she was allegedly grabbed by an unknown suspect while on her way to school.
Cibolo Police officials say the incident was reported at 6:57 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24 at Jordan Intermediate School.
Officials say the student reported that while riding her bicycle to school in the 200 block of Cordero Drive, an unknown black male approached her and grabbed the back of her hoodie and the handlebars of her bicycle. The student stated that she kicked the suspect to get away and managed to ride her bike to the back entrance of Jordan Intermediate. She immediately reported the incident to school administrators. The suspect was identified as a black male with a white beard, wearing a red shirt and black shorts. READ MORE
