(Weimar) — The Navarro Lady Panthers are moving on to the Class 4A Division 2 Region 4 finals.

Navarro swept past Sweeny in the regional semifinals in Weimar on Tuesday night, taking the match 25-17, 25-21, 25-17. The Lady Panthers have won nine straight sets in their three playoff victories.

Navarro seniors Kate Wozniak and Morgan Helms along with juniors Rylee Smith, Brooklyn Fox and Emi Harris came up big at the net with devastating smashes and stymieing blocks in Tuesday’s victory. Senior back line defender Tegan Harborth was active coming up with a number of digs leading to several Lady Panther points.

Navarro will now take on District 26-4A rival Wimberley in the Elite 8. The Lady Texans have also swept through their three postseason matches to get to the regional finals. Wimberley took down Manor New Tech in the bi-district round. In the area round, they beat Cuero. And on Tuesday night, the Lady Texans knocked off Sinton in the regional semifinals.

The Lady Panthers defeated Lago Vista in their first round match. They took out Devine in the area round.

Wimberley is ranked No. 1 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 4A Division 2 State Volleyball Poll. Navarro is ranked No. 10. The Lady Texans took both of their district matches against the Lady Panthers this season, winning both in straight sets.

The regional volleyball final match between Navarro and Wimberley will take place Thursday at Alamo Heights High School. First serve is set for 6 p.m. The winner will move on to the state semifinals next Monday or Tuesday.
