(Kyle) — The Navarro Lady Panthers dominated the Lago Vista Lady Vikings in straight sets on Monday night in the Class 4A Division 2 Bi-District round to advance in the UIL volleyball playoffs.
The Lady Panthers swept the match 25-11, 25-16, 25-18 at Kyle Lehman High School. It was the first postseason win for the Navarro volleyball program since 2020.
“This was the best I’ve ever seen them play,” Navarro head coach Paige Poth said of her team’s effort following the playoff win. “They come out with energy and just work all together. Everybody, everything, every moment, every play, every kid, the bench, the sidelines, everything was in sync tonight and it showed. We had a few errors here and there, but everything was in sync, everything turned around. We had one hole tonight that started out in that third set, but they turned it around real quick.”
Navarro seniors Tegan Harborth, Kate Wozniak, Morgan Helms, Sara Falor and Izzy Geipel all earned their first playoff victories. Every senior made contributions to the win and Poth lauded her players for their efforts.
“My senior leadership shined. It was an exciting moment for them. That’s what they wanted. We want to win the first round. We’ll worry about the next game later, let’s get the first round. And so, their energy was on a whole new level tonight.”
Navarro will next play Devine in the Area round. The Arabian volleyball team took down Gonzales in their bi-district match in Seguin on Monday.
Navarro and Devine have already met this season. The Lady Panthers swept that match back on September 10th at Navarro High School. The area round match between Navarro and Devine will take place either Thursday or Friday at a place to be determined.
There are more bi-district round playoff games for area teams tonight.
