SEGUIN, Texas — Texas Lutheran cruised to a 45-10 win over Lyon College on Saturday at Bulldog Stadium in Seguin. Texas Lutheran improved to 7-1 and 6-1 in the SCAC while Lyon fell to 1-7 and 0-6 in SCAC play.
Texas Lutheran improved to 7-1 for the first time since 2019.
The Bulldogs racked up 466 yards of total offense, scoring on seven out of their ten drives and held the ball for just under 28 minutes. Texas Lutheran’s defense held the Bulldogs to 264 total yards and permitted Lyon to convert just three of 15 third downs.
Quarterback Caden Bosanko (San Antonio/East Central) completed 11-of-19 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns while also leading the Bulldogs with 117 yards rushing and two more touchdowns. Running back Ryker Purdy (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) rushed for 78 yards, while backfield stablemate Kibreante Williams (Victoria/Victoria West) rushed for 23 yards and a touchdown and added 51 yards receiving and another touchdown. Joaquin Rodriguez (San Antonio/Smithson Valley) made his lone 30 yard field goal attempt as well as all six extra point attempts.
Safety Justin Navarro (Edinburg/Robert Vela) and defensive lineman DJ Lewis (Brookshire/Brazos) paced the Bulldogs with eight tackles each, while safety Troy Tomaselli (San Antonio/Cornerstone Christian) had seven stops.
The Bulldogs got the ball first and wasted no time marching down the field. A 36-yard run from Purdy gave the Bulldogs an explosive play to start the drive before capping off the 12 play, 76 yard drive with a one-yard passing touchdown from Bosanko to Williams.
Lyon College would avoid another shutout from the Bulldogs by responding with a touchdown on their first drive, before they would be shut out for the remainder of the half.
It would take just six plays for the Bulldogs to move 53 yards as Kibreante Williams ended the drive with a four-yard rushing touchdown. After forcing a turnover on downs, the TLU offense would trot out to score their third touchdown of the half with a 47-yard passing touchdown from Bosanko to Camarillo giving the Bulldogs a 21-7 lead. The touchdown marks three straight weeks Camarillo has scored a touchdown of 40+ yards. A Caden Bosanko rushing touchdown would bring the game to its halftime score of 28-7.
The two teams would exchange field goals in the third quarter before rushing touchdowns from Bosanko and Nehemiah Murry (Luling/Luling) would provide the final points of the game in the fourth.
