Audrey Ellen (Leach) Herron, age 92 of Seguin since 2013, passed away with her children at her side on October 25. 2024. Audrey previously lived in Silver City, New Mexico where her husband Roger and her retired in 1988. She was born in Belvidere, Illinois on April 12, 1932, to Fernandine Alice (Bowers) and Orous Ira Leach.
A longtime member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Seguin and Church of the Good Shephard Episcopal Church in Silver City, New Mexico, Audrey was an active member of the Daughters of the King in both parishes for over 30 years and also a long time member of the Christian P.E.O. Women’s’ Organization dedicated to the advancement of women’s’ education and advancement. She served in numerous positions in both organizations over the years. She was an XJWC (Jr Women’s’ Club) member for many years and was active in that organization until moving to Seguin, TX.
Audrey was also a dedicated Hospital Volunteer for over 20 years while living in Wyoming and New Mexico. She maintained her Beautician’s License that she attained after high school until 1977, “just in case” as she said. She worked with her husband Roger in his insurance business in Cheyenne, Wyoming until his retirement and their move to Silver City where they began their traveling adventures to many places including their condo in Mazatlán, Mexico for over 20 years until his death in 2001. She then continued her travels with her sister and daughters until such a time that she “just couldn’t keep up” as she said. She never tired of helping others and was always available with her kind heart and helping hand whenever needed.
Audrey knew all her birds by sight and sound and never missed a day feeding them. She loved her plants and tended them with care daily. She was just always there for whomever needed her. Her infectious smile and her bright blue eyes will be missed by all who knew her.
Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger H. Herron, and son in law, Roger Cutcher.
She is survived by daughter Renee Cutcher, daughter Rhonda (Randy) Cushatt, and Roger L. (Wendy) Herron, grandchildren Craig (Kim), Michael, Allison, Jenna (Nick), Elise (Sam) and Steven (Rachel). She is also blessed with Great Grandchildren Justin, Dalton, Corben, Henk, Jacob, Bailey, Allannah, Miles, Sonny and Cooper, her sister Connie (Dan) Luker and her brother Larry Leach, sisters in law Linda Carter and Marge Herron, brother in law Doug (Judy) Herron as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with reception to follow in McKeogh Hall. Interment will follow at a later date in Silver City, New Mexico where she will join her husband Roger in the columbarium at Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
