SEGUIN, Texas — Texas Lutheran has been picked seventh of 12 in the 2024-25 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll which was announced on Wednesday and reflects the votes of the league’s head coaches.

No. 11 Trinity was selected as the favorite in the SCAC men’s basketball preseason poll. The Tigers enter the season as the preseason favorite and were closely followed by St. Thomas. Colorado College, Centenary, and Schreiner rounded out the top five.

The Bulldogs finished eighth in the SCAC standings last season after being picked seventh in the preseason poll of a nine team conference. TLU went 5-11 in SCAC play last season but will look to return to its championship form of 2014-15 for the ten-year anniversary of its first SCAC Championship.

Texas Lutheran will open SCAC play against Southwestern at 7:30 PM on January 2 at Memorial Gymnasium to begin a 16-game conference schedule that concludes at Concordia (TX) at 2 PM on Feb. 23 in Austin. The 2025 SCAC Tournament is set for February 28-March 2 at the Maher Center on the campus of University of Dallas in Irving, Texas.

With three new additions, the SCAC will move to divisions in the 2024-25 season.

The 2024-25 Bulldogs will be led by returning All-SCAC standouts Xavier Phillips (Austin/Dripping Springs), Easton Allen (New Braunfels/Marion), Isaac Orozco (Helotes/O’Connor), Teddy Tapken (Austin/Lake Travis), and Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson). Austin Falke and his staff added five freshmen, including local prospects Jonah Johnson (Cibolo/Steele) and Jake Goode (Bulverde/Smithson Valley), and junior transfer Trey Blackmore (San Antonio/Cole/Cal State Fullerton) over the offseason.
