WESTWORTH VILLAGE, Texas — Texas Lutheran men’s golf had a stellar final round to run away with the team title at the 2024 Crusader Cup at Hawks Creek Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs (1, +17) were tied with St. Thomas entering the final round before shooting seven-over on Tuesday to win the tournament by seven strokes. The tournament win is the first since 2018 for Texas Lutheran.
Tobey Wills (Richmond/Foster), Van Miller (Katy/Seven Lakes), and Cooper Hollomon (Bellville/Bellville) led the Bulldogs as the trio finished in the top 10. Two more TLU golfers, Brandon Munson (Livingston/Livingston) and Tyler Givilancz (Schertz/Clemens) finished in the top-15, finishing 12th and 14th respectively.
Wills matched his opening round score of one-over on Tuesday to finish fourth in the tournament, his second straight top five finish.
After carding a 77 in the opening round Monday, senior Van Miller responded with a 72 even par score to close the tournament five-over and in a tie for sixth, climbing ten spots from Monday’s opening round.
Hollomon posted rounds of 74 and 76 to finish tied for ninth at six-over par, securing his fourth top-20 finish in five tournaments to start his collegiate career.
Munson used rounds of 77 and 74 to climb back into the top 15 to finish seven-over, a stroke ahead of Tyler Givilancz.
Shea Eason (Round Rock/Round Rock) (+21) and Adrian Cramer (Georgetown/Rouse) (+27) played unattached, finishing 43rd and 52nd respectively.
As a team, Texas Lutheran posted a field-high 21 birdies and finished in the top three in scoring on par-3, par-4, and par-5 scoring. Tobey Wills’s 30 pars led the field.
