(Seguin) — The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs will look for five wins in a row when they host Lyon College this Saturday.
The Bulldogs, now in the second round of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play, won their rematch with the McMurry War Hawks 28-6 in front of a homecoming crowd last Saturday. TLU avenged a 31-10 loss to the War Hawks in Abilene back on September 21st.
“It was a big win. Our kids were really hungry to make amends from the first go-around,” Bulldog head coach Neal LaHue said about TLU’s rematch victory over McMurry. “That’s the nice part about the double round robin. We didn’t feel we played as well as we should have in the first go-around and credit to them for playing a good football game, but our kids were focused on this game. But it’s not over, we had like a 24-hour rule. We enjoyed it for 24 hours and now it’s Lyon College and we gotta take care of business.”
The Bulldog defense was led by safety Troy Tomaselli, who had a pick-six in last Saturday’s win. Tomaselli has four interceptions on the season. On Monday, he was named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week. In TLU’s first meeting with Lyon College, Tomaselli had two interceptions in a 49-0 shutout victory for the Bulldogs in Batesville, Arkansas on September 28th.
Lyon College is still looking for their first conference victory. The Scots are winless through five SCAC games.
