Seguin and Navarro runners to compete at regional cross country meets

(Corpus Christi) — Seguin and Navarro cross country runners will be in Corpus Christi next week to compete in regional meets.

The Seguin boys won the District 27-5A championship on Thursday, October 10th at Brooks City Base in San Antonio to advance to the regionals. The Matador boys placed four runners in the top 10 in the 5K race. Sophomore Adrian Rangel took the gold medal. Senior Prince Medrano finished in third. Freshman Noah King was sixth and senior Adrian Aguirre finished 10th.

The Navarro girls cross country team finished fifth at the District 26-4A meet at Max Starcke Park in Seguin this past Thursday. Junior Lilia Flo crossed the line in second place in the two mile run while Lady Panther senior Madi Gilliam finished in ninth place.

Senior Ethan Luu led the Navarro boys with a sixth place finish in the Boys 5K. Flo, Gilliam and Luu will represent Navarro High School at the Region IV Championships.

The Class 4A and 5A Region IV cross country races will be held on Monday, October 21st and Tuesday, October 22nd at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Flo and Gilliam will compete for Navarro in the girls 3200 meter race on Monday morning at 9:15 am. Luu will represent the Panthers in the boys 5K at 9:45 am.

Seguin boys runners will compete in the Class 5A Region IV Boys 5K on Tuesday. That race will take place next Tuesday at 11 am at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The UIL Cross Country State Tournament will take place Friday, November 1st and Saturday, November 2nd at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.
