(Seguin) — The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs return home this Saturday after two games on the road.

The Bulldogs, 2-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, split a pair of conference road games. TLU fell in Abilene to McMurry on September 21st and then rebound last Saturday in Batesville, Arkansas, shutting out Lyon College 49-0. The Bulldogs are 3-1 overall on the season.

Sophomore safety Troy Tomaselli had two interceptions in last Saturday’s shutout. Tomaselli has three pickss on the season.

The 49 points scored by the Bulldog offense was the most by TLU in the three seasons Neal LaHue has been the head coach. LaHue says he likes the improvement his team showed after their first loss to McMurry.

“I’m happy with our results so far. We didn’t take care of the football against McMurry, but I think we’ve grown from that and (we) got better last week,” LaHue said. “To me, it’s more about us that it is about the opponent. We just gotta keep getting better stacking good days on top of good days in practice and getting those young guys reps.”

TLU is back at Bulldog Stadium this Saturday to host Austin College. The Kangaroos are still looking for their first win of the season. They are 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the SCAC.

Austin College will have two chances to get their first victory against TLU. The Bulldogs and Kangaroos will play each other twice in the next three weeks. Following this Saturday’s game, the teams will have a bye and then meet again in Sherman on October 19th.

This Saturday’s game will kick off at 1 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium in Seguin. We’ll have the game for you on KWED. Our Bulldog pregame starts at 12:30 on Saturday afternoon where we’ll visit more with Coach LaHue here on AM 1580. This weekend’s game will also be simulcast on the TLU+YouTube Channel.
