(Seguin) — Seguin Lady Matador softball player Camryn Rios announced on social media this week that she will continue her academic and athletic career at Texas Lutheran University.
Rios established a new school single season home run record with 16 homers this past season in her junior year. Rios broke the record with her 12th homer of the season in Seguin’s 20-9 victory over Kerrville-Tivy at the Fields at Huber Ranch on April 5th. On April 19th, she blasted three home runs for the Lady Matadors in a 16-6 win at Boerne-Champion.
The Lady Mats advanced to the Bi-District round of the UIL playoffs in 2024. Following the season, Rios was named a first team all-district middle infielder by head coaches in District 26-5A.
Rios was also named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 5A All-State softball team in 2024. In June, Rios was selected to play in the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Game in Arlington. She was one of 28 5A and 6A players in the state to be selected to play in the All Star game.
The TLU Bulldogs are led by long time head coach Wade Wilson. This past season, Texas Lutheran made their tenth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division-III Softball Tournament and ninth straight Regional Championship appearance. Texas Lutheran also claimed its tenth straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship and its ninth SCAC Tournament Championship in ten seasons. The Bulldogs won the NCAA Division III Softball Championship back in 2019.
