Schools to host new facilities ribbon cutting
(Seguin) – Today is the day that the Seguin ISD will officially celebrate the completion of its latest two bond projects.
Ribbon cuttings are being planned this morning at both A.J. Briesemeister Middle School and Ball Early Childhood Center.
Sharing in the celebration and the opportunity for the public to come out and see the new facilities is Seguin ISD Superintendent Dr. Veronica Vijil.
“Man, oh man, let’s talk about AJB first. Three years in the making and we are finally at the ribbon cutting and I say finally not in such a negative way but yeah, we get to now ribbon cut and get to showcase that beautiful campus where there’s going to be so much student engagement and it’s what the kids deserve,” said Dr. Vijil.
Voters approved $39 million for the full renovation/construction of A.J.B. during the 2019 bond election. The project was a full transformation of the entire campus at its original site.
Dr. Vijil says the district is also equally excited about the additional classroom space at Ball ECC.
It was approximately two months ago when district officials announced the completion of the new wing. In fact, they were thrilled that it was completed “a remarkable three weeks ahead of schedule.” They say that provided them plenty of time to furnish this new section of the school with brand new, pint-sized furniture.
“Ball, I’ve been in the new classrooms, and they are just absolutely gorgeous, and they are set up for success. They are set up for our littlest learners to thrive in those classrooms. As I walk around Ball, pre-k 3 and pre-k 4, the work that those teachers do, they are miracle workers,” said Dr. Vijil.
The first ribbon will be cut today at Ball beginning at 9 a.m. The public will then be encouraged to move over to AJB for its ribbon cutting and tour at 9:45 a.m.
