Urgent care center to host Back to School Bash

(Seguin) — A local medical team wants kids to be both happy and healthy when they head back to school.

Rapid Urgent Care located at 920 W. Court St. near TLU is inviting families to its Back to School Bash this Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.

Businesses also joining forces with Rapid Urgent Care to help get kids ready for the classroom are Beyond Coffee and Seguin Wellness & MedSpa.

Urgent Care Manager Jill Ewald, says it was important for the team of businesses to come together and ensure that kids get what they need for free.

“We are doing a Back to School Special. We are giving out school supplies. We are doing back to school physicals for free that day within the 12 to 2 hour timeframe. Patients show up and just fill out the paperwork and we will get them taken care of as quickly as possible — vision, hearing — make sure everything is A-Okay. We’ve got some raffle tickets, some cotton candy, some popcorn and ice cream. We (also) have a mobile snow cone machine coming in. It’s kind of saying goodbye to summer and hello to the school year,” said Ewald.

Ewald says school supplies will be available while supplies last. However, every child who attends will get the chance to win one of 10 clear backpacks filled with “extra” supplies.

Ewald says they also want to make sure that families take advantage of the free sports physicals. She says they are required if students plan on enrolling in those extra-curriculum activities. She says there is no need for appointments or to pre-register.

“If they can provide the physical form, that will be the most helpful. We do have them. They can fill it out there and then we will have the doctor and the nurse practioner there that day and we will just have everyone come through and get a physical and make sure everyone is happy and healthy,” said Ewald.

Ewald says Rapid Urgent Care is excited about serving the needs of Seguin and looks forward to everyone having a great school year.

“We are new but we are trying to be more involved with the community to be part of everything. If there is a need and if we can, we want to step up and fill that need,” said Ewald.

Again, the Back to School Bash will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at 920 W. Court St.
